How to Look after Your Hair and Prevent Hair Loss This Winter

As December is now underway and the cold has well and truly struck, it’s important that we take extra steps to look after our hair to keep it healthy and nourished and prevent unnecessary hair loss and damage.
Here we look at some top winter hair care tips:

– Try to avoid washing your hair more than two or three times a week. Washing your hair too often with hot water and shampoo can do more damage than good, as the chemicals in shampoo can strip the hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry and brittle. It is important that hair keeps its natural moisture to stay healthy, and over washing effectively takes this away. Make sure to use moisturising shampoos and conditioners to make up for the moisture that you naturally use in cold weather.

– When you do wash your hair, it is important to make sure that it’s completely dry before you go out into the wintry elements. Cold air makes wet hair dry and brittle, and therefore more prone to breakage. If the weather is cold enough, your hair could actually freeze, leaving you with icicles that can easily break off.

– As winter hits, central heating is essential to keep us warm, however, this is not good for your hair and skin. Advanced Appearance Raise A Fantastic £3000 For Birmingham Children’s Hospital Cancer Charity

We are delighted to announce that here at Advanced Appearance we were able to assist in raising a huge £3000 for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Cancer Charity. The money was raised by two very different events:

· Our Company Director, Linda Allen, swam an impressive 1 mile and raised £1700 from our very generous Advanced Appearance clients along with clientele from our sister company, Pink Hair Solutions.

· A hair and fashion show which took place on 11 September 2014 at the Hollyfields Centre Club in Erdington.

The hair and fashion show raised a remarkable £1300 and was a fantastic evening which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The evening began by welcoming guests with canapés and refreshments, before the main event of the night which was the hair and fashion show.

Seven models strutted their stuff on the catwalk, showcasing clothing which was provided by Wardrobe in Tamworth, and a variety of themed hair styles, including day wear, evening and alternative. The models were styled by Sarah and Nina from Nina’s Hair along with Kelly and Linda from Pink Hair Solutions. Glamorous Airbrush makeup was provided by Ganga Make-Up.

Gill and Sam were on hand to compere the evening and Justine from Birmingham Children’s Hospital very kindly delivered a moving speech to the audience, thanking them for their participation in the event and for the much needed fund raising money. Guests were also able to listen to a moving speech from Chelsea and Paige Taylor, as Paige was a patient at the Cancer Centre and has therefore seen the benefits of the valuable fundraising first-hand. Chelsea and Paige gave a heartfelt thanks to Linda for everything she has done to support the charity.

Guests were also invited to peruse the twenty market stalls which were provided by local businesses,
before enjoying the disco which ended the evening perfectly.

The whole event was sponsored by LSB Beauty & Skincare along with Pink Hair Solutions and the fundraising team are already looking forward to planning next year’s big event!
